Overview

The Republic of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health and Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, in partnership with the CDC Foundation and Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Data for Health Initiative, conducted Mobile Phone SurveyMobile Phone SurveyMPS to address gaps in data needed to inform public health action and decision making. The goal of both of Sri Lanka’s Non-communicable diseasesNon-communicable diseasesNCD Mobile Phone SurveyMobile Phone SurveyMPSs was to attain nationally representative estimates of indicators that could provide information on Non-communicable diseasesNon-communicable diseasesNCDs and related special topics. The estimates inform programmatic recommendations to improve and enhance disease prevention and response.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, two surveys were conducted utilizing Interactive Voice ResponseInteractive Voice ResponseIVR that focused on knowledge, attitudes, practices, vaccine acceptability, COVID-19 testing and medicine distribution. Following the success of the Non-communicable diseasesNon-communicable diseasesNCD and COVID-19 surveys, the Ministry of Health and Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine identified the need for an additional Mobile Phone SurveyMobile Phone SurveyMPS utilizing Interactive Voice ResponseInteractive Voice ResponseIVR to collect data related to an ongoing economic crisis and access to Non-communicable diseasesNon-communicable diseasesNCD medication and health care.
